Congratulations Thornwell Students!
On Thursday, April 22, a pizza and ice cream party was held in the Turner Dining Hall to celebrate the reading achievements of Thornwell students. Each nine-weeks, students are encouraged to check out books from the Learning Center and commit from 20 to 30 minutes a day to reading. As an incentive, point goals are set according to the age/reading level of each child and points are awarded based on the number of books read. Each student must take and pass a comprehension test after reading each book to earn points. This nine-weeks, a record number (41 students) of Thornwell readers met their reading goals.
The top 8 points earners were:
- Caroline – 207 points
- Chris -136 points
- Sadie – 92 points
- Morgan – 69 points
- Joseph – 50 points
- Randy – 49 points
- Kirsten – 37 points
- Jaimie – 36 points
In addition to pizza and ice cream, prizes were also awarded. Congratulations to all of our accomplished readers!
