Thanks University of Georgia (UGA) Students!

Many, many thanks to a great team of 15 University of Georgia students for spending their spring break on the campus of Thornwell cleaning the gym and organizing equipment, spreading mulch, working at The Learning Center, and hanging out with our kids.

As part of the Alternative Spring Break (ASB) Program at the University of Georgia, The ASB Thornwell team is one of seventeen groups spread all over the country volunteering to help within organizations that address children’s issues, homelessness and poverty, cultural exploration and social justice, environmental/animal awareness and HIV/AIDS awareness.

The mission of the ASB is “to engage UGA students in an affordable, week-long substance free, experiential service learning project that encourages an understanding of pressing social issues in a significant way.”

“This is a great group of young people,” said Lindy Scott, VP of Children and Family Ministries at Thornwell. “No matter what job we give them, they all jump right in to get it done!”

Special thanks to our community partners and area UGA alums for providing meals for the students, and First Presbyterian Church, Clinton, for allowing the UGA students to “camp out” in their Life Center for the week.
