Sponsor a Child
You Can make a Positive Difference
Helping a child meet daily basic needs is an investment in the future of that child and our society. Both will be better for it. And in a very real sense, when you give a gift to bless a child, you receive a blessing in return.
As a sponsor, you will be given a program that is customized to the level of involvement that you or your group wishes to make. Some sponsors join as a group, each providing a portion of the funding needed to cover the monthly expenses of one or more children; while others give individual gifts to cover the basic monthly needs of a single child. Still others choose to select a specific type of sponsorship such as self-development or special occasion, ranging in amounts from $10 – $100 a month.
Once you have decided to become a sponsor, an appropriate program will be recommended and program details will be explained. You will know the name and age of the child you are sponsoring; and, from children who are old enough to write, you will receive a personal thank you note that expresses his or her gratitude.
Ways you can sponsor a child:
Scholarship - helps prepare children for a successful future by providing them with a quality education.
Allowance – provides a child with his/her own spending money. This monthly allowance helps the child learn about budgeting, saving, tithing, etc. The amount each child receives is based on his/her age and/or grade level.
Clothing – provides a child with the funds needed to meet his/her clothing needs. Two outings are enjoyed twice annually, in the spring and fall, to purchase new clothing that is appropriate for the seasons. The annual cost is $400 for children (age 11 and under) and $600 for youth (age 12 and up).
Self-Development – provides funds for a child with a particular need, talent or interest. Funds enable a child to pay for lessons in the arts, tutoring costs, club dues, orthodontia, contact lenses and various other costs incurred in their field of interest or special need.
Vacation – provides food and lodging for cottage family excursions. Each cottage family is encouraged to take a vacation together annually.
Special Occasion – ensures that the child receives a special remembrance on his/her birthday, Christmas, and other significant holidays.
Special Projects – allows groups and individuals to select from various project opportunities to help in this ministry. These projects include, but are not limited to:
Providing personal hygiene items
Supplying a cottage with needed linens or other household items
Participating in an Alternative Christmas Market
Collecting Campbellās soup labels (www.labelsforeducation.com)
Collecting General Mills labels (www.boxtops4education.com)
