2 Full-Time Positions – Georgia and Florida
Might God be calling you to use your gifts and experience to make a difference in the lives of children and families? Thornwell Home for Children, a 137 year-old independent non-profit ministry in covenant relationship with the Synod of the South Atlantic of the Presbyterian Church(USA), is seeking two full-time Mission Advancement Officers, one Georgia-based (Atlanta area) and one will be central Florida-based (Orlando or Tampa area).
Mission Advancement Officers are responsible for maximizing philanthropic support from and promoting awareness of Thornwell’s mission among individuals, churches and other public and private constituencies in these respective regions. If you are an organized and motivated self-starter and team-player with proven fundraising solicitation skills, excellent communication/presentation and interpersonal skills to build, foster and manage long-term donor relationships and a personal commitment to Thornwell’s mission, we invite you to submit your candidacy as outlined below.
College degree and 1-3 years relevant fundraising experience, including gift solicitation, is preferred (sales and marketing experience considered). Positions include some non-traditional hours such as evening and weekend hours for making presentations to churches/church groups and visiting with constituents. Travel will be primarily within assigned region with some overnight travel required. While not required, preference is given to candidates who are active members of Presbyterian Church(USA) congregations. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, Raiser’s Edge and/or contact management software experience, and familiarity with Moves Management a plus. Thornwell is Now Accepting Applications for Family Teachers
On the cutting edge of child care since 1875, Thornwell Home for Children provides care for pre-schoolers through independent living. We are a ministry of the Presbyterian Church USA and are located in Clinton, SC, a historic, college town in upstate SC.
We are seeking singles and couples to work in our cottages with 6-8 children. We have thirteen cottages on our campus and staff each cottage with four adults as to allow for consistency for the children and adequate time off for staff. Thornwell uses the Teaching Family Model of childcare. Our four hundred acre campus includes historic buildings, cottages, recreational facilities, and the Hartness-Thornwell Presbyterian Church.
